Organization and Classification
The legal name of this Charter School is Sage International School of Boise, A Public Charter School, Inc. The Board of Directors oversee the operation of two charter schools, Sage International School, located in Boise, Idaho and Forge International School, located in Middleton, Idaho.

For purposes of all sections and provisions of these Board Policies, the term ‘The Network Schools’ applies to each public charter school governed by the Sage International School Board of Directors. Accordingly, these policies apply equally and fully to each such public charter school, currently Forge International and Sage International schools.

Sage International School is governed by a volunteer board. The Sage Board has a broad mix of professional skills and experiences including legal, education, business, marketing, and finance.

Mike Lawrence ~ Chair
[email protected]

Mike is a partner at the Boise law firm, Givens Pursley and his focus is in the areas of water, environmental and administrative law. While in law school, Mike worked for the Fish and Wildlife Division of Bonneville Power Administration's Office of General Counsel. For many years prior to that, he guided rivers in Idaho, Washington and Oregon. Mike still enjoys spending time on rivers and in the mountains with his wife and two children.

Blake Youde ~ Vice Chair

Blake is currently the founder of a legislative strategy group that serves a variety of private and nonprofit organizations. He has also served as the Chief Communications and Legislative Affairs Officers at the Idaho State Board of Education. In 2013, Blake served as the Executive Director of ACCESS Academics in St. Louis, which is a nonprofit organization that ensures social and economically disadvantaged students have access to top quality education.


Michelle Watts ~ Treasurer

Michelle works for a SAAS company that supports Higher Education and Nonprofits in tracking their Endowments.  She graduated from Baylor University with a joint BBA and MBA in Accounting.  She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Idaho. She has worked in Public Accounting, at an Airline, Clearwater Analytics, and for the State of Idaho as the Fiscal Officer at the Endowment Fund Investment Board.  She was  also an Adjunct Accounting Professor at Boise State for two years.

Her family moved to Idaho 15 years ago.  Michelle is married with two daughters, one who attends Sage. She has been an active volunteer throughout her girls' schooling at their schools, coaching various sports, and volunteering as needed. Her family loves to travel and have been to Asia, Europe, and across the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska. They also love being outside hiking, SUPing, Nordic skiing, and enjoying the outdoors.

Paul Fleming ~ Board Member

Paul is an account manager for the Boise Metro Chamber and is responsible for recruiting new members along with finding sponsors and advertisers for the Chamber's events and programs. He is in his 5th year with the Chamber. Prior to his current position, Paul spent 20 years in the food and beverage industry; 15 years with Albertsons and 5 years with CSB, a beverage wholesaler. Paul serves on the North Boise Little League Board of Directors as a coaching coordinator. 

Paul is from the Pacific Northwest and has lived in Idaho since 1991. He is married with 3 children who attend Sage. Paul and his family love to go camping, biking and doing most anything outdoors.

Keith Donahue ~ Board Member

Keith is Bluum’s School Support Manager and puts 11 years of charter school leadership experience to work for Bluum’s network of partner schools. Prior to his career in the education sector, Keith spent 12 years in the legal profession. 

Keith earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1992 and his Juris Doctor from Lewis and Clark School of Law in Portland, Oregon in 1998. Keith has extensive experience advising government clients, drafting legislation, and ensuring compliance with state and federal law. Keith has experience managing government programs, including securing funding, overseeing budgets, managing employees, and meeting program milestones.  

He has served 11 years in various roles with Sage International School of Boise, joining first as a founding board member prior to Sage opening its doors to students in 2010. Keith then transitioned to Development Director for four years. In this role, Keith was responsible for Sage’s fundraising activities, grant writing, and the financing, purchase and redevelopment of Sage International’s Boise Campus. 

In May 2016, Keith assumed the role of Executive Director, where he oversaw the strengthening of Sage International’s finances, operations and academics while also directing the launch of a second school, Forge International School in Middleton, Idaho.  

Keith is excited to help school boards and leaders successfully launch and grow innovative schools that bring high-quality educational choices to K-12 students across Idaho. 


Bill Carter ~ Board Member [email protected] Bill is one of the original Sage founders and a former Board member. He is a graduate of Boise State University and University of Idaho School of Law. Over the past 25 years, Bill has worked as a corporate lawyer for Albertsons and Chief Legal Officer and Global Regulatory Compliance Officer for a Boise based e-commerce company. As a business entrepreneur, strategist and consultant, Bill started a successful digital advertising firm, a law firm that represented some of Boise's largest companies and a commercial real estate development company. Bill has represented and served on the board for numerous non-profit organizations. Bill lives in Boise and has three girls attending Sage.
